Jaelle's Prayers

Jaelle Prayer.jpg

Hey there,

I thought this was really cool, so I wanted to share. We've been saying the "now i lay me down to sleep" prayer with Jaelle for a few weeks, and at the end she always adds her own list of people (and sometimes things/characters) she'd like us to pray for.

This night last week, she requested the usual, "Mommy! Pray for Peppa Pig, and eggs and bacon, etc." type of ending, plus a few family members. But then she added the name of one of her daycare classmates, and we gladly agreed to pray for him. When we told her classmate's mom about it the next day, she was grateful and said "Wow, and we definitely needed prayer! We lost his grandmother last night."

Call it coincidence, call it a prompting of the Holy Spirit for Jaelle to add her classmate to her prayer list, call it whatever you want. I'm just grateful that God is allowing me the grace to lead and cultivate a family culture where prayer happens.

(Speaking of prayer) I've been praying a lot lately about the meaning of my upcoming album, Hello Jesus, and the Lord showed me something cool: That no matter what life throws at us, good or bad, our response should be "Hello, Jesus."

"Hello, Jesus, I love you."
"Hello, Jesus, I need you."
"Hello, Jesus, thank you!"
"Hello, Jesus, I don't know how I'm going to make it to tomorrow."
"Hello, Jesus...my heart is broken."
"Hello, Jesus...I'm afraid, but I know you're with me."

If prayer isn't a part of your daily life (especially as a believer), I encourage you to try it. You can pray any time, any place (in the shower, on the way to school/work, during your lunch break, anything!) Our ability to communicate with God through Jesus Christ is something we should never take for granted. It may not always feel true, but God always hears you and he always cares.

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." - 1 John 5:14 (NIV)
